A U G U S T  1 9 : T H

Hi folks!

It's time to update this section, isn't it? Of all un-updated sections of this site, this is probably the worst. But, butter late than early!!??! Anyway, the lack of updates doesn't mean that we haven't done anything in the studio during this time. The recording of the drums where finished in the middle june something, don't remember exactly. Just took four months!! And the songs have changed pretty much during this time. Hopefully to the better.

So, than we started with the guitars. As with anything else, we immendlty got problems. When we miced my beloved Vox amplifier, and started to record, we noticed a strange hiss on the tracks. It showed out that it was something
wrong with the amp. usually, hiss-sounds like this disapear if you play loud enough, but not this time. Still don't know what the problems is. Had to try some new setups with the equipment which belonged to the studio. After a lot of tweaking, we found a real good sound, using an old Ada preamp along with Marshall tube poweramp. The producer was very enthusiastic, he had used the Ada preamp himself several years ago, but probably forgot about it.

With a good guitar sound, I thought we should do the songs pretty quickly. After all, I have written almost all the music, and we had rehearsed on most of the material for at least a year. Wrong again; The arrangements and the drum beats had changed pretty much during the recording, so we had to change several parts. And the producer, who is a very good rythm guitarplayer himself, had tons of good ideas about different ways to play rythms, which I never thought of myself. Far beyond my "atmosphere". This meant that I spent a good amount of hours in the studio just practising on new ways to play the riffs and rythm figures. But again, I think everything changed to the better, and it really feels likes even the weaker songs have developed a lot! Of course, we don't have any weak songs, but everythings is relative, and compared to the real killer songs, I suppose some other songs are weaker than that... ;)

This thuesday, August 16:th, I finished the sixth song (we are still just talking about rythm guitars here). Since this song is a little bit more than 8 minutes long (longest on the album), I really have to say it was the fastest recording so far. The other songs have taken several days each. Played some really, in lack of a better word, stupid riffs, which definitly aren't riffs you play in a music store, trying to impress on someone. But the producer is very sure about that they will fit very well in the final arrangement with bass, keyboards and vocals. Which we haven't added yet. So I suppose we just have to trust him.

Will try to update this more often during the autumn!
