Please help us to get some airplay on Swedish TV. Just go to this link and vote for "Demopanelen 2" (click on the link and choose "Like it!").

Studio work is going fine. Lead vocals for 6 songs are now finished. Maybe should start to reveal a few more things about the album and the songs?

  Mars 23:rd

Real long time and no updates! What are we doing? Well, maybe more than some of you might think, but also less than we could. Typical swedes, in the middle of the road... So, what have happened since last? We have progressed with the album recording, almost all guitars are now finished, been working hard with the solos and harmonies for about a month now. Also added some lead song, but Criss have been having problems with his throat. Hopefully it will be better soon.

We should also announce that VII Gates is looking for a new keyboardist! The very talented mr Tim Diaz have taken a time-out for a so far undecided time. He will help us with the recording of the album, and have also offered to do gigs with us if nessecary, but want a break from the band. So, everyone who is intrested, please send an email to JJ Rockford at jjrockford@sevengates.se        Wont leave a long description about what we demand from a keyboardist. If you feel yourself that you are able to play in the band, in terms of technique, rehearse and so on, it's fine with us.

Meanwhile some members been in the studio, the rest have been working with the material for the next album. Everything to NOT have this long gap between albums again. Have two songs rehearsed and finished so far, and a lot more to work on.

VII Gates will also participate on a compalition CD released by Metalcentral.net, along with a lot of other great bands. It is called "Metalcentral Metal Collection" (info in swedish only) and is a mix between signed and unsigned bands. Buy it!

  November 13:th

I have the pleasure to tell that we finally finished the bass playing for the upcoming album. And it sounds great!! Just vocals, keyboards and guitar solos left, piece of cake. And what about the fact that we probably will have been recording an album for almost a year? Never thought that would happen this early.

There are also a new interview with JJ Rockford published on Umemetal.com. Unfortunatly, for some of the visitors, it's just in swedish. But for you who understand swedish, or want to check it out anyway for some reason, you will find it here.

  September 19:th

Updated the "where to buy the album"-list. There where several broken links, which I have removed, and also added some new ones. There are huge differences on the price of the CD in different stores, so take your time and find out where it will be most affordable for you to buy it.
There are still no one outside the band who signed up for our new messageboard. You better start writing there right now, and be among the first who will reach the madmen status.

  September 11:th

Finally we have our first message board up and running. Decided to call it "House of madmen". You will find the link on the menu to the left, in the bottom, "Madhouse". Not a lot of headlines yet, have just one "general" which you all can write in, and two for the band, one where everyone can see what we write (but no posting), and one hidden. So, be sure that you sign up! Link to the board

  September 10:th

VII Gates finished in third place in Esckaz inofficial Heavy Metal Eurovision Song Contest 1st Edition (June-July 2005), defeating bands like Iron Maiden, Stratovarius, Running Wild and Rhapsody.  Read the complete results here: ESC 1st Edition

Also, updated the studio diary once again. Wanna read it?

  August 19:th

After more the half a year, the studio diary is updated again. Curious about what we've been up to during this time? Read it!

  August 15:th

Added some pics from the gig at Hamn festivalen. Our photographer didn't showed up until we had just one or two songs left, but still got some good shots. We are also very proud of the spontaneous applaudes we got from the sound engineer after playing "The saviour". Direct link to the pictures!

  July 16:th

VII Gates will preform a short set at Hamn Festivalen in Halmstad, on Wednesday July 20:th. The festival stage is located in Stationsparken (close to the railroad station), and VII Gates will enter the stage 20:45. Be there!

  July 5:th

VII Gates have been choosen to represent Sweden in an unofficial heavy metal version of Eurovision Song Contest. So please visit the site here http://esc.ruz.net/2005/metal.htm  listen to the songs, and make your vote!

The drum recordings for the next album are finally finished after several months. Sounds really good. Now we just have the guitars, bass, keyboards, vocals, mixing, mastering and artwork left to be done!

 May 15:th

Bad news; The french festival in Sarre-Union have been cancelled.

  May 5:th

Just a standard update. Changed some defect member info. Let's see if you notice which...

Found five new (at least new to me...) reviews last week. For how long will we do?!?!?! But it's still entertaining to read them. If you think so too, just check them out on the review-page!

Also added another an interview, which we did with Battlehelm some months ago. Find the link here: Interviews

And finally, there are quite a few more shops on the "Where to buy VII Gates albums"-list.

April 23:rd

Several people have demanded that we should add lyrics to the songs on the site. Last out was "Fin", who actually wrote them done on his very own, and posted them in the guestbook. Felt a little ashamed that we caused him (and probably many other!) this extra work, so now the lyrics can be found the album site. Fire, walk with me Enjoy!!

April 15:th

On april 9:th, JJ Rockford preformed the song "Hammer to fall" together with legendary band Queen, sorry, Queer (the "n" changed to an "r"), which is the best Queen tribute band in the world. It was so fun so I did a special page for this event, where I will upload some pictures from the concert. Check it out here; Rockford&Queer page
Been a while since we updated the studio diary. The studio work is going very slowly, but actually forward. Just haven't had anything special to report so far. About six songs are finished on the drums, of the ten we have planned to record for this album.
Have got several requests to add guitar tabs for the VII Gates songs. Said and done. Two tabs is added so far, and the rest will be add as soon as they are written down (a pretty time consuming work...); VII Gates guitar tab page

Mars 4:th

Added a new section to this site, called "Knowledge". I actually wanted to call it "Knowledge base" but as usual I couldn't master the computer enough to add such a long word without destroying the format of the menu. Anyway, on this link we will post things that we want to share with you, even if it's not really related to the band. But mostly related to music of course. Mick will be the first one, posting a long chronicle about his point of view of the art of drumming. Happy reading!
Find the first review so far in Polish! If someone would like to translate that for us, we would be very happy! As usual it will be found in the review-section
The studio work have a one week break, because our producer left the town for some skiing in the north of Sweden. Luckily he returned (unbent, unbowed) with all his bones unbroken, and we got a first rough mix of the drums for one song earlier this week. Kicks some serious ass! So now we have just nine songs left to finish on the drums. If we don't comes up with any new ones during that time. And then of course the work with recording the rest of the instruments.

Note: On the last update, the guestbook database disapeared by accident (damn the machines!). My appologiezes to those who have written in it already. Please write again!

February 16:th

Have started with a studio diary, so you can follow at least parts of our work with recording album #2. Just one date in it yet, but we've just started the recordings, so have patience. Here is the link; Studio diary. If you have any specific wishes about what we should write about in it, just mail!

February 15:th

Added some live pictures to the Media section (ex-Sounds/video). As some of our more faithful visitors might have noticed, some sections disapeared when we changed to this newer homepage. But we are slowly adding them back again.

February 12:th

The review section for "Fire, walk with me" is updated with two more reviews. FWWM Reviews. Also updated with several more shops on the "Where-to-by-the-album-list.

February 9:th

A marathon interview with JJ Rockford have been published by The Sentinel Web Mag. You can find it here; Interview (Scroll down the page for an english version, if you prefer that).
The recordings aren't going to well right now. Two recording sessions have been cancelled, because Mick have been sick. We haven't been able to get a more detailed report about this. Mick's only comment was "I feel like a cleansed cod". What about that!?!?

February 2:nd

Yesterday, Mick started with the recording of the drums for the next album. So info about this is probably what will dominate the news for a few months now. Will try to add pics, and maybe some video clips soon.

January 27:th

More info about the festival in France. It is called "Hardvest Metal Festival", and will be held june 4:th 2005 in Sarre Union (north of France) close to Metz and also the German border (Sarrebruken). The URL to their homepage is http://hardvestmetalfest.monsite.wanadoo.fr/, but it is still "Under construction". Have also, shame on me, forgot to officially thank Gerard and Heavy&Loud for inviting us to this festival. So here it is, thank you very much!!!

January 26:th

We are very happy to announce that we have signed a new record deal with Lion Music. A press-release about this will come in the following weeks.
More than a year since we released our first album, I still found new reviews a little now and then. Well, have to admit, some of them maybe aren't that new, but it's new to us! Our appolgiezes for those eventual delays. Anyway, with all other reviews, they can be found on the review-page.
Same thing with an interview we did for Metal-Invader. Probably months since it was published, just forgot to add it. But now you can find it along with the others here!
VII Gates will play on a one-day festival of Sarre Union in France june 4:th this year, along with Seyminhol, Deafenning Silence, Diamond Dust and Heavy&Loud. More info will follow soon.
Some pictures from our gig at Bryggeriet in Uddevalla december 17:th can be found here! Very much thanks to Andreas who sent the link (if someone wonders, Andreas is also one of the guys who arranged the gig). The pictures I know for sure are VII Gates related, is (starting from above) picture #3, #4, #5, #6, #12, #13 and #17.
Finally, people keep nagging on us that the biography isn't really complete. That's completely true. But we are working on it!

January 4:th

Happy new year everybody, and hope you had a great X-mas as well!! We had, if someone wonders. And now we are hopefully facing another great hardrocking year.
The concert in Uddevalla was great, thank you very much everyone who showed up, as well as the staff on Bryggeriet, who all together made it to a very pleasent experience.
This month, VII Gates promo video for "The saviour" are featured on Metalstorm's "Follow the storm vol 3", just follow the link here:

December 9:th

VII Gates and Sound Riot Records have decided to terminate the current contract, since we couldn't agree about some points. Among them the payment for our studio costs of "Fire, walk with me". Money, money, money... We are negoiating with a few other companies right now, and will probably give you the name of our new home before new year. The recordings of album #2 will start as soon as we sign a new contract, and will hopefully be out sometimes late spring 2005. Since we also still own the rights to "Fire, walk with me", that album will probably be re-released (with bonus-material of course!) by which ever new record company we sign with.
VII Gates will play at "Bryggeriet" in Uddevalla on december 17:th. Just 30 Skr for us and three other bands (which I sorry to say haven't heard of before), so there is no excuses about not to come!! Well, maybe there are, they aren't allowed to sell alkohol. Anyway, sorry for the late info about this gig, we are lazy sometimes.
Also want to point out that Gerard from Heavy And Loud sent me a slightly updated version of the VII Gates Winamp-skin. As it looked much better, I just replaced the old one, so if you want to download it, it's the same link as before (see news update "October 14:th" below).
Oh, almost forgot. Our old guestbook have disapeared somewhere in cyberspace, along with all the wonderful messages you wrote there. Can't find it again, so we have a new one now. It's not working properly yet, but write in it anyway! Even if you maybe can't see what you have written, we can...
